You have to start going to the doctor once you're sexually active. Who cares, go to a female one, she's seen it all before, she'll probably do 5 smear tests a day.

Really you need to go. But some Doctors in a family practice can so the same thing a gyn. That way you feel a bit more comfortable. even if you don't have sex you can still get cervical cancer, and other problems. And its not like a doctor hasn't seen a vagina before and if it makes you feel better get a female other then a guy.

Most woman would agree that going to the GYN is NOT fun! But it must be done... just get it over with. My first time I honestly left the office a little bit traumatized... but it gets easier every time you go. Just don't think about it too much. I prefer a woman doctor... and most are very nice and comforting since they understand that it isn't something that anyone really wants to do.
You can probably get away with not going until you are in a relationship, but the sooner you get it over... the better you'll be. Remember it's for your health-- and you don't want anything wrong to go on down there!

Visiting the gynecologist is part of being a healthy responsible adult. It's embarrasing at first, but doctors are professionals and they are not looking at your naked parts in a sexual way at all. You should start having annual exams when you become sexually active or when you turn 18. Most if not all cervical dysplasia (what they're screening for in a Pap smear) is caused by a common sexually transmitted virus, HPV, so if you're a virgin you have very little chance of having a precancerous cervix. However, the exam screens for other things too and you owe it to yourself to make sure everything's functioning the way it's supposed to. Plus, if you want birth control and/or ever plan on having a baby, you're going to have to be examined. It's really not that bad.

The only way to avoid seeing a GYN and be a healthy adult female, is to be a man. Sorry, but no matter what you do, you still need a PAP test, pelvic exam, and breast palp exam every year. Whether you go to a family practice or a women's health clinic is up to you. Suck it up and get it over with... It's really not as bad as you've blown it up to be.

You can do what you want but you know what you should do.
See the GYN. They can help you spot cervical cancer and treat it early. Find a woman Doc that you feel comfortable with.

the different determination is to on no account see a gynecologist and danger cervical maximum cancers, STD's and not in any respect having little ones. I relatively propose seeing one as quickly as you are able to and getting 'desensitized' to the assumption. it is risky on your well-being to forget approximately pertaining to to the properly-being on any area of your anatomy. in case you relatively war with this, attempt having some drinks (alcoholic) to calm you slightly before you bypass in. in case you ever prefer to have little ones you will would desire to recover from this concern as you loose all privateness at this point, with lots of strangers poking around down there. and you comprehend what? you will no longer care in any respect. have confidence me.

sorry, abstinence or condoms (or whatever over-the-counter stuff you can find) is your best bet. If you ever get pregnant, you'll be there monthly. If there is some painful past memory that is causing this fear, counciling is a good idea. Kudos!
