You plug in your country/city/town and when you get in there is a sky map of what the sky looks like from your location. You can also change the date and time to see what the sky will be like at anytime in the future.

The site has over 2 million locations in the world - even my local village that is just a pub and a service station and a few houses.

Also tells you when to see satellites.

You can get various computer programs that can give you very accurate maps from your part of the country, right down to the time you wish to 'view'....some of the best are the Voyager III and Planetarium....here is a site that can give you a list to chose from.
