Today, I was extremely stressed out and I asked my husband for a cigarette and took off for a drive- I NEVER smoke- I actually HATE smoking and the smell of it and everything. I am that person who drives everyone crazy. I am a nurse, my boss knows I don't smoke and he despises the habit as well. Anyway- I was VERY stressed out and begged my husband for one- I don't even know why. While I was driving, he passed me in his car the turned into a restaurant parking lot. I am so sure he saw me... I am afraid I am going to get fired for lying or something. I have had the worst day ever. What should I do?

if he is a good boss, go to him, face to face and tll him what you said in your question, sometimes telling someone else can help come to a resalution to a crummy day. tell the truth.

I don't think you will get fired. You were off duty, so what's the big deal? I understand your craving, as a occasional smoker. Stress has a funny way way of causing cravings. I do understand that smoking is a nasty habit, but understand this incident does not make you a habitual smoker. As far as I know, there are no laws on the books that prevent you from "blazing up" on your time off. So don't sweat it.

Boy, you sure sound insecure along with being immature. So, you were smoking and your boss saw you......it is none of his buisiness.....why are you worried about something stupid like that? I would think the reason you were stressed out is more important than your boss seeing you smoke. Oh yeah, one more thing........you are giving nurses a bad name from asking this really stupid question.

you are making a making out of a mole hill if your boss is going to fire you for smoking in your car while you were off duty then i think you should find another job, if your a nurse then you have a lot of job opportunes, you don't have to work for an asshole.

Well.... If he asks be honest. Honesty means the world when it comes to the choices some people make. Its also the easiest way in and out. You don't have to think of another route. You could also let him know if he asks it was a once a year thing.
Good Luck

Dont say anything unless he says it first.Explain that what he saw was a one time thing, and that you were under a lot of stress and don't intend to do it again. Good luck!

Last time I checked, smoking wasn't illegal or a sacking offense. If your boss brings it up, just deny it outright.
