Zeus is an imaginary fellow, whereas Jesus existed. Many people saw Him, talked with Him, and saw His miracles, including His Resurrection.
He transmitted them the Faith and they received the Holy Spirit, that gave them the strength to overcome all the sacrifices they had to do.
Zeus promised the lower people ( slaves, women, etc, people not important in the Roman Empire ) nothing, but Jesus promised the Eternal Happiness and Equality for all

Several things lead to the downfall of the pagan religions. And strictly it would be Jupiter not Zeus.

First, the pagan religions were exclusive in nature. There was a 'pecking order' and mysteries were revealed based on one's status in the organization. The common person would have the fewest number of revelations and the high priest/priestess the most.

Second, the pagan religions were, for the most part, exclusive to a specific culture. The one real exception was the cult of Mithras. And, if it weren’t for the Roman Emperor Constantine being a ‘mamma’s boy’ he would never have converted to Christianity. The Cult of Mithras was not only the dominant Romanic cult but it spanned many cultures as it originated in what is now Iran (ancient Persia). It shared many aspects of Christianity but lost official sanction. The Emperor Constantine shifted power to Christianity and to the Primate of Rome.

This shift in focus and imperial support, the cross-cultural message of Christianity, in conjunction with the fact that the early Christians did not relegate women to secondary roles provided the base that Christianity needed to become a dominant world religion.

There are a few books that discuss this. The following is a recent attempt.

Mysteries of Mithras: The Pagan Belief That Shaped the Christian World

The cult of Jesus was adopted by the ruling classes because they saw that it was a very effective way of controlling the common people and increasing their own wealth.
All they had to do was to get their priests to preach the gospel of a pleasant life in heaven after death and the peasants would not be so dissatisfied while alive.
The churches and the rulers grew rich together, any unrest from the lower classes was suppressed by violence.

zeus lived on a damn mountain and used every trick he knew to seduce young women

jesus was born poor, tried to spread the the good word to backstabbing traitors, when the booze ran out he had to make his own, got strung up on a cross, and then came back, only to be embraced by people who claimed they knew he was the savior all along.

sorry, but I feel much more "in sync" with jesus.

Zeus was eaten and vomited out by his father. Jesus was given life then had it sucked away by his. The later is much more dramatic, and more drama = bigger audience.

It all came when Emperor Constantine needed something to rally, unify, and yes - also pacify, the very disparate people of his empire. So he picked a relatively new religion, and then forced everyone to join or else be killed.

before they inserted all the mystical baloney on it, the teachings of Christ spelled a new age for humans.

But then it got bought by the rulers and merchants and used to control the masses... and the rest is bloody history.
