I use to wonder if it was natural or not. It is put on by them for some really weird reason. Not all gay people have the "gay accent" and those that do choose to use it. I have no idea why, maybe it is part of the "we're queer, we're here" routine.
It is a way for them to be even more different, in a way that is obvious.

how is it that "straight" people seem to know so much about gay people? Are they closet gays themselves?
the gays i know don't lisp. in fact, they are probably more macho than you. A simple trip to a leather bar would prove that.
