Learn top spin so you can hit the ball harder and have better chance of putting it into play.

When hitting the second serve, the trajectory of the ball should take the shape of an arc. This gives the serve margin over the net and also down into the service box, thus allowing the ball to jump up at an opponent, making it difficult for them to take on the return. The following are some technical tips to try to improve the shape on your second serve.

1. Let the ball toss drop slightly

We are told to contact the ball on the first serve at its apex or highest point, so that we are able to get maximum extension up into it and more snap from the wrist.

This is not the case however on the second serve. By allowing the ball toss to drop from its apex and by accelerating the racquet head up and out at the same time, you create greater friction between the strings and the ball. It is this friction that enables a player to hold the ball on the strings for a longer period and therefore have more control over the second serve.

2. Contact should be made inside the baseline

The contact of the serve should be made inside the court and above the player's head. From this position, it is easier to accelerate the racquet head up and out.

If the ball toss is too far in front, the player is then stretching and cannot send the racquet on the right path with the same racquet-head speed

be consistent! that is the most important. but you also need to be practicing everything that you know. you should see if you can get a private or two from a pro at a tennis club, that is what i did. and you should ask if there is any tennis summer camps that they know of. this way you can get some practice in the summer time to. i also did this. on days that you don't have a lesion or a private you should go to your tennis club and see if they have a ball machine. if they do ask if you can use it to practice your strokes. you shouldn't re-lie on that to get fully better though. the ball machine can't hit at different paces and it can not put spin on the ball or anything.

Each shot in tennis requires different areas to work on so without a specific problem it is hard just to throw something helpful out to you. I will tell you though that to be a very good tennis player you have to have very good footwork. So with this in mind do some off court training. Jumping rope is an excellent drill for your footwork and overall conditioning. Try to learn to jump rope by landing one foot at a time. Left, right left etc. Try and land on your toes. Another good thing to do is to do short sprints. Running forwards and back by going sideways on the way back. Another excellent drill to do is to place your racket down and surround it with eight balls about ten feet from your frame. Run and grab each ball then place it back on the center of your racket grabbing one at a time. This will get you used to short sprints and the stopping and starting with quick change of direction. You also have to bend your knees when grabbing the ball and placing it on your frame which is good for bending tour knees. You can also do line jumps which you do by standing on one side of the singles or doubles sideline and jump, alternating pushing off with your left and right legs to get that explosive first step. All these are anaerobic footwork drills. The stopping and starting which is very different then the aerobic movement or fitness which most of us are used to doing for are training such as a flat out 3 mile jog. I hope this was of some use to you.

Practice more, keeping the ball inside try to hit up to the baseline, those are always hard to return, I do not knor your level, but another tip is when you have a ball in the meddile of your side of the court, change the direction, if your were hitting to the righ change to the lef, and vic.Put more topspin in your strokes.Change the direction of your serve, and change spin.

It all depends on what kind of player you want to be. I would suggest getting to the net as much as possible, but you have to pick your times to go to the net.
