Do not use the WMP to burn the DVD, Use a third party software such as Nero, Save the file, then use Nero to compile it to DVD, Nero will format the DVD to the specs needed to play the file correctly, and if Nero says it can't record, then something is wrong... Nero has never failed Me, I use Nero 6.6.0.18, Excellent Burning Software, and it came bundled with my DVD Burner... Good Luck

If it is a clean, new DVD-RW the burner could be the problem. Go to the manufacturer's site to see if they recommend the brand you are using.

Many firmware updates are exactely for this reason, to expand your blank media choices.

Also, try slower multiples of the top speed the blank is rated for because the longer the laser 'burns' a spot, the stronger the image.

Watch out for vibrations while burning. Since the tracks make human hairs look gigantic, it only take a kid running by the computer to mess it up. Especially on old wooden floors.

I also agree that WMP is not the greatest choice.

Good burning,
