I was trying to find out how much time I may have until I am ready to deliver.. I am 38 weeks and my mucos plug is coming out and the doctor said today I am at 1 1/2 cm.

could be anytime. you could walk around for another day or two or you could go very rapidly.
I went from 1 1/2 walked around for about a week like that and then started contractions , lost the mucous plug and dilated very quickly. baby was born 3 1/2 hours after losing the m. plug.
it varies for so many people. unfortunately that doesn't give you a better idea.
you are best to stick close to home.

It can be a while. I was dialated 2 cm on friday (back in 2005) and I went into labor Tuesday morning at 3 AM lost my plug around the after noon (loosing plug doesn't mean you will go into labor soon because your body can make another) and then my daughter was born at 5:16 Wednesday. Oh and I was 40 weeks and a day, btw.
It will be a while!

most likely still a long time, sorry. I was a 1 for 6wks with my first and dilated for a total of 8 weeks. Since you are so far along though, you know it will be less than 4 weeks.
Granted it can happen anytime, but I think you are safe for a while. Do you know how far you are effaced? If its under 75 percent you still have a long way to go.

When I went into labor I was 3 cm dialated. It really depends on the pregnant mother as an individual and your due date.

I stayed 2 cm for a week I think...unless you are having contactions then you won't dialate enough to progress anymore. If you want to get it started then drink castor oil...it works to put you in labor and doesn't hurt the baby.

I was dilated to 3 for over a week you gotta have contractions before they admit you Goodluck!

Sorry, baby will come out when ready. I have been 100% effaced and 1cm for 3 weeks now.

Some people are dialted a few centimeters through almost their whole pregnancy. If this is your first baby, however, chances are that you will begin labour within a week.

you're into labor now if you have contractions, up to 10 cm, they say then you're to deliver
