A new clutch is about $27 but if you just replace it you are asking for trouble. Get a matched kit with clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing for between $125-150. I don't know about where you live but I can get one put in anywhere here for between $75 and $150. In your truck it is one of the easiest clutch jobs of any brand vehicle. With a $10 manual and a floor jack you can do the job yourself in a few hours with minimal effort. The hard part is aligning the clutch in the dead center of the flywheel and a tool comes with the clutch at no cost to do it with. I strongly suggest ebay to buy the clutch if you have time to wait. You can get a new one there about 50-75 for the complete set. I sold a set on there last week for a chevy. Basically, you unbolt the drive shaft U-bolts and drop the shaft from the back of the trans. Unbolt the dust cover from the bottom of the bell-housing at the front of the trans. This will allow you to access the transmission bolts. There are four of them that bolt from inside the bell-housing into the trans. Once they are removed the transmission will easily slide out toward the rear of the vehicle with a floor jack under it to support it's weight. Preferably on blacktop or concrete and be sure to strap the trans to the jack so it don't fall off on you. Once the trans is out you can unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel and the clutch will fall out with it. Then you just put the new one in and everything back together in reverse order. While bolting the pressure plate back up there is a tool that pushes through the center of the new clutch and into the center of the flywheel to hold it centered while you tighten the pressure plate. That's the hardest part of the whole thing. If you have a friend who can help you can do it in a few hours easily. With a wheel lift I can change one in about 45 minutes if I don't run into any problems and be back on the road...Caution----If you do decide to tackle it be sure you scotch the wheels on the truck or safely lift it in the air and put it on jack stands or something sturdy and safe. When the drive shaft is unbolted the truck will roll freely unless the e-brake is applied as this is what ties the trans to the wheels to keep it from rolling when in gear. Haynes and Chilton's both have really good books to help you do the job and they have detailed pictures as well. A cheap tool kit will be all you need most likely. I think a 9/16, 5/8 socket, ratchet, maybe a couple wrenches of the same size. And disconnect the battery while working also. You might also need pliers and a pry bar to first break the tranny loose and also to pull the driveshaft back. Hope this helps. ps-You can probably check out a book for free at your local library to fi it with. Ours has the repair books readily available.

Ya just need to measure the dia. of the one that comes out you may not need a pressure plate unless its all burned up or cracked. you can get it turned but its cheap enough to just get a new one. be careful for the salve gear if it has one. it may need a throw out bearing too either or 72 probably throw out bearing. make sure the spline on the tool you get matches up with the spline on the trans too. they have a few different ones of those too. so check before you are tryung to push the trans into the clutch plate and cant figure out why its not going in.

You can pick up a clutch and pressure plate at any big parts house, they even usually come with a alignment tool. Watch the tranny though, they are HEAVY. Trust me on that.
