It's a great idea, but teachers are worried about it because it is open to editing by anyone at anytime, so you really don't know if the information you see at any time is accurate. So be careful citing it as a source, check with the teacher first.

It's an evil terrorist plot. Someone went and mixed together the contents of a lotion bottle with the contents of a water bottle and mixed it with a screwdriver and tried to get on a plane. When that didn't work they stuffed it in the nearest computer and it was open to a page of Wikipedia and thats all she wrote...................

The information isn't always accurate because random people can just edit the info and it might not be right.
