Is changing the bulbs in a 98' (low beam) really as hard as it appears when I look under the hood? I'm comftorable under the hood of most domestics (or I was) but this looks like it'll be a nightmare. I work out of my driveway as a hobby. Hit me with all the shop talk you want. Tools are not an issue. I'm hoping to do a friend a favour by Sunday. Thx.

Is pulling the whole unit out an option? I couldn't seem to see all connection points.

My source states to remove the headlamp(light) assembly, and then remove the bulb. Here are some steps you can follow from the site I got.
Remove the upper air intake splash shield.
Remove the lamp assembly.
Remove the socket. Complete the following steps.
3.1. Turn the socket.
3.2. Pull out the socket

CAUTION: Halogen bulbs contain gas under pressure. Handling a bulb improperly could cause it to shatter into flying glass fragments. To help avoid personal injury:

Turn off the lamp switch and allow the bulb to cool before changing the bulb. Leave the lamp switch off until the bulb change is complete.
Always wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb.
Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass.
Do not drop or scratch the bulb.
Keep dirt and moisture off the bulb.
Place the used bulb in the new bulb's carton and dispose of it properly.
Keep halogen bulbs out of the reach of children
Use the following procedure in order to disconnect the electrical connector:
4.1. With one hand, grip the wiring harness end of the bulb that the electrical wires enter. Do not grip the wires.

Important: Do not grip the bulb glass.

4.2. With the other hand, grip the base of the bulb.
4.3. Carefully pull the bulb base apart from the wiring harness.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Connect the bulb socket to the lamp harness connector.
Align the bulb flange notch with the lamp housing key way.
Insert the bulb into the lamp housing.
Turn the bulb into the housing until it is retained.
Install the lamp assembly.

It's stupid simple.

On the backside of the headlight housing is a black, or gray bulb holder.

Unplug the wire harnes. (it's got a little clip on it that you have to kind of pry open a little to pull the plug out of the bulb assembly.

Now, turn the bulb housing 1\4 turn CCW and jiggle it a little while pulling straight out.

You may want to buy a new one first so-as to see what it looks like.

Added: I hate when people cut and paste things they know nothing about.
