I have an interview tomorrow for this alternative inner city school that I want to go to, and part of my hair is dyed pink. My mom said this is inappropiate, and that I should dye my hair back to brown tonight. Should I?

It's an ALTERNATIVE HIGH SCHOOL. It's not a job interview, and I'm sure the dean is used to seeing different looking kids. I think my mom is wrong.

Yes, it is inappropriate. Even though it's an alternative school, that doesn't mean that it's ok to show up for an interview with pink hair. You don't know what the school's rules are when it comes to that, don't assume anything. You don't get a second chance to make a good first impression. Pink hair will not score you brownie points for individuality - it will distract the interviewer's attention from your abilities to your hair. So my advice is to use a temporary color to hide the pink, get in, and then check out the school's policy on hair. You want in, so why take a chance at being rejected over something like that?

Does having pink hair go against the dress code at the school? If not, wear your hair in a calm style, and during the interview bring it up. Tell the interviewer that you've had this hairstyle for (insert length of time here), and you were wondering if it would be acceptable to continue it while a student at (insert name of school here). Let them know that if it will cause problems, you'd have no problem with using another color (say blond or a 'natural-looking' red) that will fall within the dress code.
Doing that - bringing it up and offering to compromise - will show your maturity and willingness to not distract from the learning process (very important in the world of education).
HOWEVER - if it's against the dress code, dye it back. If it's not clear, go pink, and let them know that you were wondering.

It is an alternative highschool.
Did you happen to check out any of the current students? Perhaps that will help you in your decision.
I know it shouldn't be all about looks, but unfortunately, too much of the time it is.

I would dye it back tonight, and ask about their policy on hair color during the interview- better safe than sorry.

If you really want the job I would do it if I were you. You can't tell before hand what they would find acceptable so don't risk it. Show by your appearance that you respect them and care to make a good impression.
