I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and its original lift supports for the liftgate no longer function properly. I bought two new lift supports to replace the old ones and the people at the auto parts store said that they were for my vehicle and would fit. But I tried to replace them and I have no idea how to! It just seems like the ends on the new ones don't match the ends of the old ones. They are both that ball looking connection. Can anyone help?

there,s a clip on both ends of it that you pop off,,and it lets it come off,,the new ones should have new clips on them,,and they just pop back on,,be care full when you remove the old ones,,the hatch may fall on you,, i own a repair shop,,and do this all the time,,it,s not a hard job to do,,good luck with it,,i hope this helps.

Well, I think there are special bolts at the top to be taken out...I could be wrong though. Or is a special slip over clip, that can be slid up, or down, depending on which way it needs to move, and then pull away from its attacment. Be careful, as to not let the glass bonk you in the head. Hope that was a little helpful for you. May just need a straight slot screwdriver.
