I know he was a pastor and a former Marine, but when he did his show he came in with a briefcase. So, what was his job?

In 1962 Rogers received the Bachelor of Divinity degree and was ordained by the United Presbyterian Church with the charge to work with children and their families through the mass media.

He was never in the military. He didn't have a job, but I think he came in with a briefcase so he would look like someone's dad.
