3x + 2 = .5x + 5
Subtract .5x fom both sides
2.5x + 2 = 5
Subtract 2 from each side
2.5x = 3
Divide both sides by 2.5
x = 1.2 (the answer!)
And the crowd goes wild.

You can multiply each of the terms (such as 3x, 2, and so on) by 2, so that x/2 can be a whole number. That would mean:
6x + 4 = x + 10
Using algebra:
6x + 4 - 4 = x + 10 - 4
6x = x + 6
6x - x = x + 6 - x
5x = 6
5x/5 = 6/5
x = 6/5
6/5 can also be expressed as 1.2 in decimal form.

3x + 2 = x/2 + 5 is the problem
First u are going to get that 2 out of the denominator and multiply on both sides
2 (3x + 2) = x/2 + 5 * 2
the two on the right is going to cancel out the other two leaving u with
2 * 3x +2 = x + 5
do the distributive property
6x +4 = x + 5
combine like terms
6x +4 - 4 = x +5 -4
6x = x + 1
then
6x -x = 1
5x = 1
now divide
5x/ 5 = 1/5
there is your answer
x = 1/5

I would do it this way. to get rid of the x/2, I would multiply the entire equation by 2 which would leave you with 6x+4=x=10. Now you would get the x's on one side and numbers on the other. Move the right x over to the left and you get 5x cuz you change the plus to a minus x and move the 4 over to the right side and you get 6. So now you have 5x=6. Divide both sides by 5 to get x=6/5. I hope this makes sense. If not, ask your teacher tomorrow. Also, try not to pay attention to the waterfall of destiny craziness.

3x + 2 = x / 2 + 5 ( from here, we transfer 2 to the other
2(3x + 2) = x + 5 side and now it become multiplication form)
6x + 4 = x + 5
6x - x = 5 - 4
5x = 1
x = 1 / 5

This is one simple ecuation (degree one). I'm a student at the Faculty of Mathematics but you don't have to be a mathematician to solve that.
You write it like this:
6x/2 + 4/2 = x/2 + 10/2 (it is obvious).
Than you can get rid of "2" and the ecuation is:
6x + 4 = x + 10
6x - x = 10 - 4
5x = 6 => x=6/5

Multiply all numbers by two to get rid of the X in the fraction. Then get the X all by itself on one side of the equal sign, and another number all by itself on the other. (By the way, it's called algebra, having an equation and solving for a variable (represented by letters)
