Someone tried telling me that things are more expensive here in the Raleigh Durham area because this is the state capital and that things are always more expenesive in state capitols. You know, products such as groceries. Any truth to this?

Supply and demand. Transportation costs, delivery systems enter in. Groceries are very competitive and have a very slim margin.
