Iran at its apex was an advanced society called Persia. When the King was expelled it fell under the fundimentalist muslim clerics who remained it Iran. They have gone thru a period of Islamic Revolution and have started to soften the demands of the Iatolas and want to be a modern Islamic state. They want to be a major player in the Middle East but are held back by their methods past and present.

They are a backwards country but they did right when they shot and hung all the drug dealers like America should do.
