I like San Antonio a lot. The schools are pretty good, people are friendly, low crime rate, and you can still buy a house in a good neighborhood for a reasonable price. Also, the culture is really diverse because of the hispanic culture and also because several military bases bring in people from all over. They guy who warned about tornados is lying; I've never heard on one here in the last ten years; we do get a lot of hail storms, though! Feel free to email if you have any questions about what to do or best places to live here.

I live about an hour outside of Houston and it is a very pleasant little town. Very country and the school system is excellent. If you are looking for convenience, this is not the place. It is 20 miles to the nearest store in either direction, but if you are looking for wide open spaces with lots of woods, this is the place. Really a nice place to raise children. Tarkington is the name of this community.

i've never lived in texas, but i visited in richardson, which is near plano and DFW. i saw D from the freeway coming from the airport, and that was enough of it for me. i prefer quiet rather than big city drama and what usually accompanies it. richardson, plano, etc. were "pleasant" and kind of "upper middle class". i've heard only good things about austin, if texas is your choice, and prefer university towns, myself. the fact that it seems to have a lot of folks with open minds and some depth could be a definite plus. it might also have some nascar free zones, a huge incentive for the non-lobotomized.

I love Dallas, Mckinney is a nice place to live. For me it would be San Antonio or Dallas and I would have to pick Dallas because there is always so much going on.

I personally live in the Plano/Dallas area (very close to Mckinney) and it is very pleasant there, nice neighborhoods, lots of space in the suburbs, good public school systems, the works. I'd recommend Mckinney, so long as you can stand the heat :).

I live in DFW, unless you have solid contacts here, you will not find it welcoming. Austin is the most metropolitan of all Texas cities. Houston is much more professional then DFW.

Austin is very liberal. The rest are very conservative.
Houston is very humid and very big.
