Saying that I'm a lesbian isn't the same thing as shoving it in someones face. Being honest about who I am and who I date isn't shoving it in someones face. At least that way, if I'm invited to the company party, there's no surprise when I bring a woman as my date. Now if I go into detail about my sex life, that'd be different but I don't do that. I've had people ask me what two women do together in bed and I refuse to answer. I told an old acquaintance of mine "Ever seen a porno? That's what they do."

I am not normally the type to answer a question with a question but - Why do some people think it is necessary to harass people about what they feel is a "real thing", like putting my GLBT sex life out there for every tom, dick and harry? I have never put my sex life out anywhere for any tom, dick or harry. Do you honestly feel that all of us GLBT people do that? I see more straight sex scenes on tv and in movies than I do GLBT sex scenes. I see more straight people making out in random public places than I do GLBT people. I work in an office that assists the public so I have people in and out all day and I see straight couple hugging and kissing all the time but I honestly do not recall a single time I have ever seen a GLBT couple making out or hugging and kissing at all. So you should maybe elaborate on your question a little so that you can get a more conclusive answer.

Why do straights put their sex life out to every tom, dick, and harry? There are many times I want to walk up to a couple and say, "Get a motel room." ... Especially to younger couples who cannot keep their hands off each other. IF this is ok with you, why are you troubled by two women who hold hands, or two men who hold hands...I really do not see where it could possibly be a threat to you or anyone else...what 's the prob here?

For the same reason some heterosexuals think it is necessary to put their sex life out to every Tom, Dick, and Harry out there.

Honesty about yourself and the person you love isn't the same thing as putting your sex life out to everybody, not at all. Does a man who wears a wedding ring and puts his wife's picture on his desk flaunt his sex life, or just honor them both?

Some might do that, but I don't think most do. How would heterosexuals feel about hiding their heterosexuality? Being open and honest about one's orientation is perfectly appropriate and not an extreme.

Why do some straight people think that saying that you're gay is the same thing as discussing your sex life?
