Think of it this way. All space and time existed and then inflated. It never expanded in any direction. (And don't think outward. There was no outward to expand into.) Space and time just inflated. Here's another thought. Let's say you blew up a balloon where nothingness existed outside the balloon surface. That's our universe. Yea...it's a little perplexing but hey...so is infinity!

you wouldn't go back in time, you'd go into another universe. quantum physics(which is the measure of big energy in extremely small spaces in extremely small amounts of time) are getting wacky results from the wacky experiments that they are doing. like single protons being in several different places at the same time.(they've taken photographs of this.)what some q physicists are beginning to follow is a thing called string thereory. where there is an infinite number of universes "forward and backward" in time. there evidence is starting to show that for every decision that anyone is faced with, each outcome is already there. in a way each of us is entering a new universe every split second. the reason that we feel like were moving forward is because we are simply just following our decisions outomes. so what direction would you go. none, it would come towards you just as the future does

the early universe is referring to things that are very far away, light form a star 12 billion light years away is 12 billion years old, the universe is only 13.7 billion years old, thus that is light from the early universe as it existed 12 billion years ago, it has take the light that long to reach us, the early universe can be in any direction from which we are receiving photons.

sorry you are confused so easily. Just because Back is used for time , and distance (space) , doesn't make them the same. So back in time is not "back" in a direction. We just use the same verb for two different dimensions.
Less confused?

Actually, if we were to ever travel back in time, we would go in no direction. I believe that we just simply disappear and re-appear in the time zone of choice.

Once you got the time machine you can go in any direction. Now a days they make it omni directional.

Time is not a spatial dimension. That's why "where" is not a question to ask in deciding which way is back in time. The question to ask is "when."

There is no such thing as time travel. Things are not recorded as they happen.
