you are comparing apples and oranges, to get volume you need to times height by width by depth, where as square unit is a surface area which equals to height by width only.

They're different things. A square unit is used to measure area, where a cubed unit measures volume. They can't equal each other. It's like saying how many rectangles are in a rectangular prism. They are two different things, a 2-dimentional object, and a 3-dimentional object.

these two measurement's cannot equal eachother. A square unit is length x width, while volume is length x width x depth. There is a whole nother demension with volume.
