The South does have the stupidest, most racist, anti-gay, mysogonistic, anti-poor, anti-equality population. They are what holds America back from being enlightened, progressive and worldy-people. We could be like Europe or better if it wasn't for the South. Europe does have better public facilities, better education, full health care, less pollution, less crime, less AIDS, more worker-mobility, better benefits, smarter people, less religious and more affable. They don't complain about higher taxes because they get so much for them.
And yes, I will be moving to Europe while this country burns in flames, like Rome, except Rome valued intelligence.
And no, not all the people living in the South are inbred, stupid Jesus-Freaks with drug addictions and poor reading comprehension skills. Just the conservative, Republican types that dominate it.

Intelligence from a man who calls himself Jebus and Fries no less. Give this man a hand people because this is the best intelligence out there that spreads such ignorance about ignorance.
Give a man a computer and you just never know what you'll get.
If everybody in the North was a little brat like that guy/girl/whatever I would say yes there should be independence just for the reason people are fighting the war for idiots. Believe it or not people are there that don't want to be, all walks of life and places. Its dumb sayings like the previous that give regions a bad name.
In short, being from the North, I really say not enough people want to separate from the Union to even question it.

It doesn't do any good, for 2 major causes: a million. They actually won't be able to secede. it really is the rule of thumb of turning right into a member of the union - once you're in, you're in. continually. 2. something else of the US might want to easily attack and reclaim this new "us of a" as US territory, then they could be--back--less than the same president as formerly. i assumed all those secession petitions were lovable. such an rather good type of misinformed human beings available, it is unhappy.

Don't think Europe is that good... I find this interesting because I can think of a similar situation in my much smaller country called Portugal, which happens to be in, yes, Europe. Culturally and even racically in a way, the Center/North and North of Portugal are linked to Northwest Spain - there was a Visigoth kingdom here, at the time of the moor occupation, and the arabs can never claim that this part of the Peninsula was ever theirs. The People in Galicia (Northwest Spain) also feel more connected to us than to the restof Spain. The North of Portugal works better and gets less, everything goes to Lisbon as everything goes to Madrid. A secession would be nice - less corruption, more progress, a different cultural identity. Just a thought...

It pretty obvious you've never been to Europe;
1. No jobs ask the Islamic youth in France
2 "This country will burn"Really look at the riots in France last summer and tell me who got burned .
I can hear you say "but it was France " Still Europe
3 Neo-Nazis yes racism is alive and well in Europe
4 Smarter people : Please try again ,your talking about the same people who hosted 2 world wars and killed millions in gas chambers ( Real enlightened and progressive idea huh ).
Yes things have changed, but the south didn't killed 6 million and try to cover it up
4 You cant even argue the point without name calling, please go to Europe they deserve you .

Your views of "progressive" and "enlightened" seem to be different from the enlightened and progressive viewpoints favored by southern gentlemen such as myself. you preach progressive open minded things, but your question betrays your complete lack of open mindedness. you conform to the left hand path and criticise everyone who doesn't also follow it. there is nothing "progressive" about that. you are only retransmitting propaganda that the democratic party has been producing since november 2004. the threats to move to europe or let the red states secede are nothing new. The general misanthropy toward southern people has been going on since the 1870s. we wish you would follow through on your threats and move to europe. Then you can see how true the "less pollution, less crime, less AIDS, more worker mobility" portion of your childish tantrum really is.

Can't afford to let that happen. It would effectively cut America in half. Did you know that quite a few of the presidents and other prominent Americans came from south of the Mason Dixon line??? Feel free to check the history of the U.S. We can do this!!! Let us all forgive and work together to build not only a better America but also a better world. Be the change. Peace.

I was born in the N East (32 years) now I live in the south, plenty of arrogant liberals down here,I'm one, and I love it.
Good luck in Europe I lived there and it sucks, there schools suck that's why they come here for an education, better public facilities, old is not better, and if you get sick it had better not be an emergency cause your going to wait. Your just crazy.

No we need that south because they are all for the war and are going to Iraq to fight. If they were not here the draft would be used and I would rather see stupid redneck southerns die than people who actually are intelligent and are against the war.

Why don't I pack your bags for ya, bub?
I've got several "Yankees" I call friends, but they actually get along with Jesus, like guns, and actually respect the military. I think those friends would help you pack too.
Europe might be a bad idea too, with France and England being invaded by conservative types called Islamic Fundamentalists :D
Your choice....

How many blue states were there again? I guess they could secede, but they'd have rough time making it without the rest of the states, where the food is grown.
