I lost almost 100 pounds six years ago on the Atkins diet. I limited my daily carbs to 30 grams. I ate all the meat I wanted, hard cheeses, raw celery, carrots, tomatoes, and lettuce. I made a soup of meat, tomato juice, purple onions, diced carrots and celery, parsley, garlic, spinach, and any other leafy greens. I like spicy foods so I seasoned it with a lot of cajun spices. I was never hungry because I could always have any or all of the above foods whenever I was hungry. I have maintained the weight loss which took about 7 months to lose and have dropped a few more pounds since then. I eat anything now but all in moderation.

Here is the thing about losing 55 pounds before January... you would basically have to go on fast diet, and the weight you have lost would only stay off as long as you were on that diet. If you are looking for a long term thing you have to completely change the way you eat and exercise. Trust me on this one. And if you go on one of those diets where you eat nothing but cabbage or something like that... you are actually losing muscle weight because muscle is easier for your body to break down and use than stored fat. So that's not a good idea... my best advice on it, to lose wieght and keep it off don't eat food that has a shelf life. If it comes in a box or can, leave it in the box or can!

Hi
This simple plan really helped me loose weight so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx
Good luck

55 pounds in 4 months is realistic. I once lost 50 pounds in about that time. Watch what you eat and exercise. Keep at it and don't get discouraged. Keep your eye on the goal!
