What do you call it when you want some air really bad? "Starved for breath."

But I wonder if fish get "thirsty" for air since they don't breathe it?

I don't think so as they take in water and oxygen into the body through their mouth at the same time, and pressure out any remainder of water and carbon dioxide through their gills.
