I always had pasta. Light sauce. Good carbs.
Or a peanut butter sandwich. And water.
And oranges in between periods at the games.

I don't eat right before a game or practice, because I'll throw up if I do.
If my game's at night, I try and eat a balanced day's food, with one big meal around midday that has a good balance of carbs and protein.
I make sure I get a snack of some easily digestible food (simple carbs, banana, nonfat milk, etc.) around two hours before the game, and generally stop eating much at all after that. I make sure I'm hydrated all day -- if there's anything that can make or break my game, it's whether or not I drank enough that day.
On my drive to the game, I'll sometimes take a few gulps of Pepsi, but that's more a pre-game ritual than a pre-game meal.
Last thing I put in my mouth before I get on the ice is a stick of gum.

Two days before a game, you should really load up on carbs that will keep you with enough energy for the next game. Drink lots of liquid and make sure that you have a lot of energizing, healthy foods. Also, at the game, have both water and a sports drink. The sports drink is for after the game, to regain the sugars that you had lost in the duration of the workout.

A Balance Bar. It should be enough to give you energy during practice and not give you any stomach cramps. After, eat anything you want.

For me, it's not what I eat... a Rockstar energy drink about 10 minutes prior, and plenty of water during. But, if you go for more than an hour, you will crash HARD.

Something with a high sugar content is best before activity, something with complex carbohyrdates is good to eat the night before.

A very good breakfast is good if you are going to workout in the morning ... if it's before noon ... a banana or any fruit is fine ... do not eat bars .... that's fake energy.
