the last time i was sexually active was three days ago. i was much drier than usual and it really hurt. yesterday i woke up with raging yeast infection symptoms so i went to the dr where i was prescribed diflucan. today the yeast test came back negative, so im getting tested for other things tomorrow.
my discharge is white and cottage cheese textured, and doesnt smell bad. my labia are really itchy and burny and swollen, as is my clitoris. typical yeast infection symptoms- but a negative on the test??
so my questions are: how long does diflucan take to help? is it possible to get a false negative on a yeast infection pee test? could this be anything else?

There are several different types of yeast--they only test for the most common. If the diflucan doesn't work after 3-4 days, try an OTC cream with a different active ingredient (Miconazole, Tioconazole, etc.) It can take a few treatments to get the right combo of yeast and medicine. One tip--don't waste your money on the One-Day treatments--stick with a seven day and you won't be sorry. Your Dr. will tell you the same thing.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

Sounds like yeast to me ... especially if there's not a bad fishy smell. Screw the lab tests. Go to the store and get some Monistat ... the one-dose ovule works great and is convenient to use. Doctors don't know everything and tests can be wrong.

well, not to scare you or anything, but it can also be pregnancy, have you been tested for that? I had the same symptoms each time i was pregnant. Or you could still have an underlining infection that the test just isn't picking up..besides it takes time for all the symptoms to vanish even after the infection is gone.
