Im doing some school research and im not sure where to start. any help about how to identitfy and get a hold of the owner of the parking lot would be very helpful.

The owner of the mall lot owns the parking lot. The owner of the mall can be located at the assessor's office of your city or town. It may not be a person, so you will need to dig further.

A company does own the parking lot. Contact the leasing company who manages the mall. Do this by asking any of the tenants in the mall who manages the mall.

Yes, it is private property. It's use is probably governed by the individual leases the tennants have. You can go to the city hall or county clerk (depending on where it is located) with the address and find out who is the owner.
