My husband is in the Air Force and we live overseas in Japan. So I do Home Daycare on base and I need a ID number. I'm not sure how to fill out the form when it asks for address it does not give me an APO, AP option. Also, even thought I'm here my legal residency is still Indiana.

I believe that if you're working as a sole proprietor or 'DBA' usually you can use your ssn in lieu of a tax id number. Although if you have employees that wouldn't work, unless you make them 'independent contractors' and 1099 them rather than doing w2's..

Here's a few links that should help you with getting a Tax ID Number though:

Even though the form may ask for a specific address, go ahead and fill in the APO address and see what happens. Free is a given -- the IRS does not charge for this. Fast is more problematic; until you get one, simply put on any relevant form "Applied for.".

Go to the IRS website and you can apply online. I think it is
IRS.gov, but double check it.
