I'm about 8 weeks pregnant with my first baby. And I'm a little nervous about the delivery stuff. Like getting naked in front of a doctor. and the whole process I guess lol, is this normal? or just me?

It's very understandable to be nervous, but some of your shyness will wear off as you have regular checkups and exams with your doctor. Also, you don't have to be nude at delivery - I always wear a sports bra and a comfy gown that I can use to cover me up when they don't need to be "looking down there."

Really, your privates are only bare for periodic checks during labor, and then of course at the pushing stage. And believe me, the last thing on your mind when doing the amazing work of pushing a baby out is modesty!

just wait until after you give birth. You will get naked in front of strangers if you had to and wouldn't bat an eyelash. If you are modest now then you will see how quickly modesty goes out the window and you won't give it a second thought. LOL You are probably more nervous about the whole process. Are you seeing a new doctor? That could contribute to it.

It is normal with your first. I was nervous with my first pregnancy. (especially about delivery - which is NOT as bad as you might think.) I even went with a "natural" birth with my first child and had drugs with my second. The "natural" birth wasn't bad. It just depends on what you want. As far as getting naked in front of the doctor, you will get over that soon enough. Especially during the delivery when they are checking on you every so often. (And they see women all day long every day so it is no big deal to the doctor.)

You will get over that all in good time! And you have a long way to go before delivery..! I am 34 weeks and think that it is never gonna come to an end! But dont worry about the undressing in front of the doctor because after the first few check ups all to have to do is show the doctor your belly abd let them hear the baby's and your heart beat! You don't have to get undressed every visit or nothing! And dont see yourself as weird our anything because we all feel uncomfrontable getting undress in front of those we don't know! Good luck, relax, and congrats!

I was the same way. Well, I still don't like getting naked in front of the doctor and having a hand go REALLY far up there (to check my cervix), but you kind of just start to think of it like protocol after a while, and know that is it for a good cause (the best, really) because it is to make sure your baby is healthy.

Good luck and congrats

I think some women are nervous their first time. I got myself a lady doctor cause I felt weird getting naked on front of a man doctor.

I was exactly the same. I didn't take my knickers off til the very last minute. Luckily for me I had a sensitive midwife who picked up on the fact that I was self conscious and kept me covered with a sheet to keep my dignity.
I don't mean to alarm you but when the labour pains really kick in you'll only be concerned with getting the baby out as quickly as possible. Good luck!

Certainly not just you. It is perfectly normal to be nervous, especially when you are only 8 weeks and your mind is trying to absorb everything that the next 7 months will bring. But believe me, about 5 seconds after you have given birth to your adorable newborn, you won't even remember the nervousness.

Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

HI,

To be honest when the time comes you probably will care less about that. Things move so fast than slow down, than speed up again and next thing you know half of your clothes are off.
Also I've never heard of anyone being 100% naked giving vaginal birth so that's not something you should worry about. Plus they keep you drapped if you want.
