I don't go back to my doctor for a while and I was told today with my MRI that things do not look good. Is surgery a possibility and if so what will they do because I don't think putting a plate in would solve the problem because my bones are just breaking apart. I fractured my bones when I was lifting up a case of bottled water into an SUV and my bone popped and apparently a little piece is missing and now I have fractures too. Any advice or possible treatments would be good so I know what i'm up against. Thanks.

I would say they are probably going to recommend surgery if your bones can't heal on their own in a cast. Having rods/pins/plates is not that bad [speaking from experience, that's what happens when go leg first into a post playing rugby] and it will definately strengthen your leg overall. They are the doctors so they know how to fix your leg and if you are not positive, get a second opinion, it never hurts. Best of Luck

No oil on the face of the earth will immediately heal a fractured bone -- so, don't listen to who-ever suggested that.

Go to the doctor's office. If it doesn't look good -- it's only going to look worse with time.

It's not fun, and it's not easy -- especially when surgery is a very real possiblity. Some things, however, have to be done -- like it, or not.

(I understand -- I'm still avoiding surgery on a fractured ankle with rotting bone).

Take the advice of your doctor(s).
I can only go from the experience of my pin and plated ankle after being driven over by a car. I call it my bionic leg, with it stronger than the other. I do long distance running for recreation and haven't had problems even though the same ankle was broken as a teenager.
The metal pins and plates have got to be stronger than bone hey!? Give it a go.....and after some physio stay motivated with plenty of specific exercises to get the muscles strong to help support the leg.
Good-luck.

Oh dear!

Um- all right, look into foods and vitamins that will strengthen the rest of your bones. You may end up wearing a cast for quite some time. Talk with a bone specialist for better advice.

Good luck!
