Who is at more of an advantage growing up? The early bloomer or the late bloomer? My friend and I were debating this. We are opposites as far as puberty is concerned. I hit puberty at 13. I am almost 15 now and still wearing a training bra and hardly have any pubic hair. No hips no nothing. Changing in gym class is a terrible experience. I hate swimming. Boys treat me like their little sister. I look like a 5th grader and i've had to watch helplesslyas my friends grow breasts and get periods and everything back in 5th and 6th grades. As a result, my self esteem is completely shot.

My friend argues that she had it worse, because she had started getting breasts in the 3rd grade and had her period in the 4th. She hated being the only girl in her class wearing a bra. She was a busty 12-year-old. It was very hard on her. She tells me how lucky I am that i don't have to deal with a period every month. But with her everyone else eventually caught up. So I think she was better off. Thoughts?

Development time aside, late bloomers seem to be better off... If you watch, over the years, the early bloomers also can overdevelop, gain excess weight, etc... At a class reunion, say 10 years, take another look, the early developers are usually the more overweight ones and the late bloomers still look good... I COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from; just hold out a little longer, I promise it'll even out! Peace!!!

I believe that you both have it hard. I mean goodness. Lol It sucks being female at times. I know it did. I blossomed a bit too early. At the age of nine. I didn't like it. I thought I was creepy at first. Since I was the tomboy kind of girl I wasn't able to be all rough and play with the boys. I would so wish to trade that for what I had before that day when I was nine. But You just have to keep going and deal with it. You're time will come when you blossom. Like a catepillar in it's cacoon. It stays there for some time before leaving it behind. Turning into a beautiful butterfly.

I'd say early bloomer has the advantage because then she gets over the highs and lows emotionally and whatever her hormones bring in before she hits college or adult age.

LATE absolutely Late bloomers have the advantage. The early bloomers are targets for the boys with run away hormones and peer pressure. The late bloomer gets to see what is happening to the other girls and learns what NOT to do.

early bloomers (girls) suffer more while they are growing up. because of obvious reasons such as teasing for large breasts or having to suffer through periods. every person and teen/preteen thinks their life is the worst at that age, don't worry about it and seriously enjoy the time you have with out all that yucky hair and periods however if you haven't gotten your period by your 16th bday see a dr, there could be something wrong

Sorry, I thought by reading your original question that you were mature enough to realize you have no control of how fast your body develops. When I read the rest of the question I realized you were still a child. Take your time trying to grow up and enjoy your childhood. Don't worry who is right or wrong on this issue. Be a kid.
