Should I be proud of my level one status and strive to keep it so?

Question

I'm only a lowly level one status and new to this website. 4 days now. I shun television and most time wasters that insult my intelegence. I like to hang out with my dogs and husband but have found myself to be a bit of a "housemouse" in the last several years. All of the people that I used to like to impress and hang out with I don't have much use for anymore. I'm not an introvert but I get enough "show time" at work. I have asked some serious questions on this website and have received some catty and ignorant answers but mostly received answers from some obviously intelegent and caring people.
I have seen anwers to questions that reflect my feelings of purposeful isolation. If we don't want to interact with people alot, then why are we here?
I will never know you and you will never know or understand me. Again, I'm new to all of this web stuff....

Indeed there are timewasters on this site. That's a rather kind description, actually, as some are downright abusive. While you mention a lot of other issues, your basic question is whether you can maintain your level 1. I guess if you don't answer too many questions and go over a certain number, you can stay a 1. But if you have the knowledge and willingness to help others, why not try to advance your level? You sound like a sensible person, and unfortunately, they are few and far between on Yahoo Answers.

Part of the fun of a site like this is the anonymity and the ability to let it all hang out with some of the answers.

I'll put in some serious answers to technical questions on computers because that's my background.

On some of the other questions, especially ones that have no obvious answer, I'll perhaps be a bit more frivolous.

Sometimes where the question is incomprhensible I'll put in as silly an answer as I can think of.

It's all a matter of personal taste and like everything you read on the web you have to know enough about the subject to judge whether what you're reading is good information or absolute rubbish.

I hear you and unfortunately there remain and perhaps always will remain a portion oin this site aimed toward ignorance and hatred.. but thankfully that is not always the case :) you'll be surprised how quickly you can get to level 2 and then 3 and 4... with speed. With time and patience you'll be at level 7 before you know it. I tend to watch way to much TV and this is a good break from the monotony, but then I find I need to break from Yahoo answers for a while lol... well then welcome aboard and now I'm off to do a little reading before I hit the hay...

Ohhh I know How will you ever get enough points to trade in for that toaster, i know the feeling oh so well but I persevere. But seriously try to remember everyone is here for a reason some are bored, some are lonely, some need an answer genuinely, some are having fun, some amuse themselves by being obnoxious, some are witty, some are stupid, etc just take it as it comes thats the way people work and thats what makes them interesting.

All people above us started from level 1. I just earned my level 2 status today, after a month of coming back off and on. We are here to interact because you, they and I enjoy to interact with people different from being infront. People tend to shy in front of others and boldly ask questions they wanted to ask here. Here everybody can ask questions freely wihout fear of being despised, laughed at or whatever. Here you are free to answer at will wether it be seriously or jokingly or sarcastically, sometimes bastardly. That means this place is a very good place for all of us to express our own free will, sentiments, and everything under the sun, provided of course that it will not go below the belt where you can be banned probably. I don't know yet how it is to be REPORTED or what happened after that to people being REPORTED.

I'm afraid only you know the answer to your question. If I may, I would also like to imagine, by your use of English language, that you yourself are intelligent. This leads me to believe maybe your here for research (to entertain a curious mind). Whilst others can entertain themselves with meaningless materialistic items, You're asking, 'why?'

Am I proud of my level 1 status? Yes, because it means I have pro-actively taken the 1st step towards something which has the opportunity to prove use full to myself, and possibly others along the way.

When someone asks a serious question on here and people respond seriously it is good. So many times we find ourselves in stupid situations and cannot seem to find the way out or to understand why we are in that situation. When someone who is not emotionally involved in the situation looks at it they are looking at it from clear eyes (they have nothing to gain or lose). With this in mind they can give good sound advice and open our eyes to things we probably would have never seen ourselves because we are constantly blinded by our emotions.

You can keep your level 1 status by asking questions - these take points off, so go ahead, have fun, answer lots of them, but remember to ask a question for every couple you answer!!

There are some real dopes on here, so ignore them and enjoy!

I know what you mean , I'm level one but we have to start somewhere . on the other hand i think it is rather sad to sit here 2 a clock in the morning and ask questions or answer them . Don't you think so ?

it relatively is strange to think of approximately, the computer has a fashion of putting all and sundry on a good enjoying field. i became right into a superb contributor whilst they first began that - for about 2 days, on no account to be seen returned!!
