I am about 4.5 weeks pregnant. I took a blood test on Monday and my HCG level was 24 which is apparently low. I am suppose to take another blood test tomorrow so the Dr can compare the #'s. Based on this and a little mix up when speaking to the nurse, I am all alarmed. I took a home PG test today and the pregnant indicator was so light it was barely visible...about 30 minutes ago, I started bleeding. I don't have cramps or anything but I do feel some pressure like discomfort in my stomach and lower back, similar to the feeling you get when you may be getting your period. I already called the doctor who is closing soon and they want me to come in tomorrow morning. This is not a doctor I have ever seen but an oncall doctor so I don't know them or feel comfortable with my few interactions so far. Has anyone had an experience similiar to this? Is my preg likely to fail? The bleeding is a bright red, about the amount of a nose bleed, no clots or mucas (yet) but SCARED!!

I dont' want to be negative, but I just had a miscarriage in April. I started with a little bleeding and I was 4 1/2 weeks pregnant. Blood tests were done and they werent too low or too high. I went back for more tests a few days later and they dropped down to 0. The dr. confirmed that I lost the baby. It was heartbreaking, but yo ulearn to deal with it and continue with life. We continued trying and I am now pregnant again. Due in April 2007, so never give up hope. Prayers are with you!!!

Sad to say, if it's a miscarriage, there's nothing they can do this early. However, some women have unexplained bleeding in their pregnancies, and some minor cramping. At this stage if you go to the ER all they can tell you is if the gestational sac is still there (if you haven't had much bleeding, it probably will be) or not, or maybe even a yolk sac. There isn't even a fetal pole yet (the barest glimpse of a fetus in the beginning).
It is possible for your HCG to still be low, and it may even vary dependant on the home test you took. I was 4 weeks pregnant when I first took a pregnancy test and it was so faint you had to want to see a line to see it. A few days later it was only a little darker. Still faint, but you didn't need to tilt it under the light. I'm currently 32 weeks along.
So really, it's a coin toss right now as to if you're miscarrying. If it gets worse you may want to hit an ER to get it checked, but if the gestational sac and/or a yolk sac is there they won't have any answers for you. If it's not, then you've already miscarried. But really, that's all they can do.

So far everyone has given you the right answer go to a Dr. tonight. This will easy your mind either way. Think about it you're not going to sleep anyway.
I had low HCG counts and as long as they go higher each time your tested than those are your numbers. Each person is different.
Another thing that could be happening now is your uterus is growing larger and sometimes that gives off some blood. Something that's good to see at this point would be brown colored blood/mucas which means your not really bleeding anymore just shedding older blood. All of this is could be normal but, again go get looked to find out it find out what's going on.
Good luck to you and I hope this turns out to be just a nuasance for you.

I am sorry to say it doesn't look good right now...... the combo of the low pregnancy hormone and now the bleeding isn's a great sign. If you are not in pain then i think you can wait til tomorrow, but you probably won't sleep at all...if severe cramping or heavy bleeding occir then go the the emergency room. call again to see if they can page your regular doctor.

Bleeding doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. Alot of women have spotting on and off during pregnancy. Also worrying and stress will make it worse. Go see your doctor, and try not to be too stressed about it.

YOU NEED TO GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM NOW!!!!!!!!!
I was 6 weeks preg. when I started spotting they checked my HCG level and then wanted to recheck in 3 days. When the second one came back it was confirmed that I was having a misscarriage. That does not mean that will happen to you.
BUT YOU NEED TO GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROON NOW DO NOT WAIT DO NOT SIT AT HOME AND READ ALL THE ANSWERS THAT PEOPLE GIVE GO TO THE HOSPITAL NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't risk waiting if you are that concerned. I would be scared if I was in the situation too. You shouldn't wait and stress yourself out... cuz you can lose the baby if you stress yourself out too much. GO TO THE ER and ease your mind. Best of luck!!

I would suggest going to an urgent care tonight. It may be nothing, but it may mean something and if you're cramping too...you should be checked sooner rather than later.
