I don't how important this topic is, but with so many names having been taken I usually do searches for things like:

1) Gaelic Mythology
2) Fantasy Novels
3) Science Fiction

With a bit of research you can come up with lots of really cool names that have not been taken and don't require numbers like "imcool450012".
