The TOP of the uterus according to this...

Yea, seems confusing, in my field I study a part of the sea called the proFUNDAL zone - the bottom of the sea. The confusion is probably because "top" isn't a real anatomy term like dorsal, ventral, etc.

The fundus is the top of your uterus. It's kinda hard to tell where it is if you're untrained (at least, in the beginning) but I think there are some diagrams out there that will show you. Of course, the fundus usually can't be felt until 12 weeks pregnancy.

Fundus is usually what doctors refer to when they measure your uterus during pregnancy. It's the top of the uterus, or the bottom of an organ

Fudus does mean the bottom in Latin but in the case of the uterus, it refers to the top.

Your doctor or midwife can measure from your pelvic floor to the top of the uterus (fundus) to gauge approximately how many weeks pregnancy you are. Generally, the centimeters match the weeks - i.e. from the bottom of the uterus to the top you will measure 35 centimeters if you are 35 weeks pregnant.

Pretty neat, huh?
