they will make it to the playoffs, and since they picked up a lot of new players this offseason it should solve the defense problem.

I think that they will look to add a physical defense man before the deadline ends. I think they are happy with their goaltending situation. Thornton is only going to get better, that was the best trade in the NHL last year. The only thing the Bruins did right was moving Thornton out of the division. San Jose has a great front office and they always seem to have one or two young guys step up from the farm each year. I am not a Shark fan, but if I were I would be pretty excited about the season.

I really hope San Jose and Anaheim have some good battles and start a healthy rivalry in the Pacific. I want to see Anaheim raise the Cup--but San Jose is definitely a contender... should be a good season... and hopefully people will take California seriously in the NHL.

The San Jose Sharks might make it but the Detroit Red Wings got back Dominic Hasek. He is the best goalie of all time. He is the reason why they won the Stanley Cup in 2004.
Good Luck to your Shane Jose Sharks. But watch out! Dominic Hasek IS BACK and READY TO BLOCK!

This is a possibility but consider this there defense is not all that great i mean look what happend in the playoffs against edmonton i mean they had the series in there hands and blow it. If I was San Jose management I would deffenatly try to bring a vetearan d-man maby 2 of em than they would be unstopable.

They're in the running. And they have a consistent goalie, in fact TWO of them. I think they should keep Toskola, and trade Nabakov. Get a little extra help for Thornton and Cheechoo.
It'll be interesting. I expect them to go deep in the playoffs, at the very least.

Anthing is possible, only other teams on my hockey pool that had as many players from one team asides from my Canucks was the San Jose Sharks
Cheechoo,Hannan,Marleau,and Nabokov.
I think the sharks will do well and with some tweeking could go alot farther.

My vote goes to the Anaheim Ducks. All the experience their young players got in the playoffs this past year, guys such as Getzlaff, Perry, Penner, McDonald, Kunitz, and Beauchemin, plus the addition of Chris Pronger to play alongside Scott Niedermayer is why I am picking Anaheim to win the Stanley Cup this coming season.

Like you said, they need a consistent goalie and they don't have it. in the playoffs, goaltending is crucial. San Jose isn't going to go the whole way until they find a goalie.

But they have the same problem that Vancouver had, One solid line and no goaltending.
They need a second line. And because they are a young team, they need to learn how to win, not just regular season games but as there is more pressure on them.
So no I don't think they can go all the day.
