No. Do not go swimming or get into a hot tub for at least 2 weeks-preferably three. The chemicals can cause the tattoo to fade. You should also be sure to keep it covered with lotion and sunblock, and if the tattoo artist gave you some anti biotic cream to put on it use that until gone.

Got myself a little tatto on the arm ( see avatar), and I don't recommend it. The chlorine or chemical in the pool might affect the integrity of the ink of the tattoo and it might bleach the tattoo. Also, I don't think it is right to expose a new tattoo to the sun.

With a tattoo, you effectively have a large open wound. If there is anything in the water that can infect you, there is a much higher risk of contracting it with a fresh tattoo.

No you shouldn't even be submerging your tatoo in a bath. Take a shower and pat dry tattoo. Don't go swimming.

NO!
tattoo artists dont tell you those things just for fun. if you were serious about gettin a tatoo, you should have considered those things before you got it. now you have to deal with it until its healed, or risk messing it up. a scarred tattoo is ugly

With such a sizeable open wound, you are letting yourself in for the possibility of infection from germs in the water. Play it safe, and wait until the wound heals.

no. it wil fade, not to mention it will probably hurt like a b*tch if you get too much chlorin in it. you should also avoid the sun, use sunblock, or keep it covered.
if you really need to go swimming, wrap the area in plastic wrap, and tape the edges with duct tape or masking tape.
