I am planning on purchasing a notebook and a desktop from Dell. It seems like they have the most customizable computers, and I can order exactly what I want.

But with the Dell stocks going down with this battery fiasco, I'm a little worried. Should I be?

Dell's a great product. I bought a notebook almost a year ago, and its still in amazing condition. The price is very competitive compared to other brands. Customer service is great too, even though it may be based off of India lol. But when I dropped my computer, i made a call and they had a tech come out and replace parts for me right away.

in case you're finding for plenty basement pc without room to advance, then purchase between the Dells you notice marketed on the cyber web or television. in case you dig into to the main effective factors you will see that in case you like a working laptop or pc with the skill to enhance, no count who you purchase from you're gonna' spend so plenty greater beneficial than $4 hundred. you may keep in mind that Dell or any pc producer does not make the aspects, they only positioned the computers at the same time and deliver them out the door. The questions you'll be asking your self is who will grant me the terrific help for my dollar. Who will grant me the main pc for my money. you do no longer choose to have a pair of massive cartons take place on your doorstep and locate out which you will no longer get ahold of somebody for a guaranty or help question. Nor do you like to learn after the actuality which you haven't any longer any room to enhance your pc and would purchase new in 2 years. evaluate who would be utilising the gadget and what it rather is going for use for. be conscious processing, cyber web surfing, e mail, etc., do no longer require plenty pc at the same time as digital photos, ripping music, watching movies, etc., require plenty. do no longer rush into this and analyze all your thoughts. additionally, do your self a choose and look into different makes than Dell.

Historically, Dell has made very high-quality computers. Recently, though, they seem to be having some quality problems. They are still not bad PCs, and their prices are always among the very best, but it is enough to make you think twice.

You might want to seriously consider HP as an alternative. But you should really look at HP's business desktop and business notebook lines - not the products you will see in Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, etc.

Full disclosure:
I own a computer consulting company, and we are a reseller of HP computers, among others. In my job I see dozens or hundreds of computers every week, which is how I have come to the conclusion that Dell may be having some quality problems.

ABSOLUTLEY NOT! I know several people who have bought a dell ( Laptops and Desktops) and after about 6 months to a year they start to slow down and stop working. I recomend an HP or if your not strictly a windows person I HIGHLY RECOMEND an apple computer. They keep working forever. I own several and they last forever! Now with the intel chips they also dual boot windows, so if you need to run any windows programs you can. Hope this helps.

I bought a Dell and I couldn't give a damn about the stock. It works great and I've never had 5 seconds trouble.

Simple,
Do the research. See who else is offering similar products for the same price.

Do the other vendors have similar problems?

Dell makes good computers and they are affordable.

They are a little quirky when it comes to mod's (over clocking etc) but for general use they are easy to work on.

Everybody loves to snub at big companies. Microsoft, Walmart, McDonalds, ... I wouldnt worry about the stock prices or anything. Dell has the best prices for good computers, and since its not something you would want to own for dozens of years, it doesnt matter all that much. Go for it.

No don't worry. In fact there might be more deals with Dell as they scramble to get new customers.
I have enjoyed there products and four of my brothers and sisters have their products.
Great customer support and quality products.

If you're knowledgeable enough, like me, you can buy parts from sites like Newegg.com (best site ever), and REALLY customize your PC, and even a notebook, though that requires more extensive searching for compatability (Dell? customizable? don't say that again or I'll hunt you down like a frightened rabbit)
