Well it's not so much my eyesight...it's just that my eyes are red all the time...no kidding. I have tried everything but nothing works. I was thinking glasses might help since I sit in front of the computer a lot...part of my job.

Have you ever heard the expression "You get what you pay for"? You do not scrimp when it comes to your eyes. You say that you are working,so are you covered by a health insurance plan? You might not need glasses at all. Make an appointment for an eye exam. The exam, by an optometrist will be about $50.00. It's the glasses that are costly.

Do you have vision insurance? If you do, the best thing is to check with the plan and see who they have contracts with. It differs by plan. Usually an eye exam should be anywhere from $15 - 50 with insurance, depending on where you go and your insurance.
If you don't have vision insurance but you have regular health insurance, you could check with your regular doctor and let them know about your eyes, they could refer you to an opthamologist(more training than an optomitrist) which should be covered under your health plan. Again, check first.
If you don't have any insurance, do you have AAA? They have a deal with Lenscrafters for discounts on glasses, and exams, I think. It might be better to check around - go to a local mall and see if they have any eyeglass stores and check with them to see if they have eye doctors on site. As an aside, the stores usually don't employ the doctors, rather the doctors rent the space and kind of subcontract.
Regarding the price of glasses, it depends on your vision. If you want a regular pair of glasses and don't need featherweight lenses(meaning you don't have a stron prescription) they should cost you less than $100.
Check Target or Wal-mart if you have any near you; some have eyeglass departments including doctors.
Good luck!

Hi...

I don't know where are you from... but I use glasses and my check up was free... because I bought the glasses in the same place I've done the check up!... (was a MD that had done the exam)

The least costly... might be contact lenses... but you'd better talk to someone who knows what you have (there's several eye "diseases") because some of them won't allow you to use contact lenses!

Go to any "glasses" shop... they might advice you!

I hope you stay well

I wouldn't go to Lenscrafters...They are not reliable in my book...I just had a complete exam, and new glasses at the cost of $450.00, but I added a few things, and my eyesight is fairly poor...You won't know until you go, and you can always refuse your new glasses there, and go elsewere...

it just cost me 193.08 to get two pairs of glasses for my son the other day at 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore... i feel that they lied on the radio...they said two pairs of glasses for 101 (not including eye exam) including sunglasses...but they charged me an extra 38 dollars for the sunglasses.......

i would not go there.......and plan to talk to the person (Taco Bob) who endorses their product on the radio......

the total charge did include the eye exam though.....39 dollars for a basic exam plus another 15 dollars to check for glaucoma and dilate and check the retina and the optic nerve etc....
