I loved the world she created but I didn't really think the plot lived up to it, if you see what I mean. The whole thing held together really well as a piece of world-building but the characters didn't really work - the only emotional reaction that rang true was Norrell's growing jealousy of Strange.
Mind you, she really nailed the character of the Duke of Wellington, practical and unphazed by weird goings on.
I enjoyed it but I'm not sure I'll ever read it again.

I thought it was a thoroughly enjoyable book. It blended fantasy with reality so well that you had no doubt that magic could be alive and well. The characters are very well fleshed out and interesting to read about. The plot kept my attention and the pages turning. The themes were not very well played out but this is not "Cloud Atlas" or something. Its just a good read.

I listened to the unabridged version on CD. I don't think I could've had the patience to sit and read the book. It's not that I don't think the book is worth the time- it is, it's just that I didn't need to intensely pay attention to the story in order to enjoy it.

There are no words that I can use to express how much I adore that book.

I tried reading it, but couldn't finish. For me, it just dragged on and on, worse than "Moby Dick", and I liked finishing "Moby Dick".
