Oh boy this is a really crap question. The person almost certainly is NOT a pedo so you should be very wary. I guess if the person is trying to be alone with the kiddies all the time that's a start though. Some people just like kids! If you are a woman you should trust your instincts because the consequenses of getting it wrong could be horriffic, either way.
there's no smoke without fire and you must be suspicious other why ask? If you don't know a person too well, don't let that person be alone with your kids.

Very difficult. The only way to KNOW someone is a paedophile is if they have a record or they get caught. If you have suspicion you should watch them or maybe discreetly speak to the children they interact with to find out if anything untoward is happening. Too much depends on what is happening to make you suspicious of it.

Look up on the net the website for your state police. For example, I live in Tennesee. So the TN Bureau of Investigation is my state police. You go to the state police website and they should have a way for you to check for local sex offenders.
If this doesn't work, call your local police, and ask them how you find out. I work for the Sheriff's office. We often get calls about how to find this stuff out. Your local police should be happy to direct you to the right place.

Contact the cops and ask about the sex offenders register, see if he is on it and why... Note being on it does not mean he is a threat or peado... could be a case of he snuck a camera in the ladies changing room to watch with his mates...

Hopefully not the hard way! Check your resident State police web site(DPS-Department of Public Safety). They usually have then name and photo of all registered offenders throughout many states. If he/she is not registered and you have a bad feeling about them, don't take any chances if you have children in your house. Trust your gut!

Well Lorraine,I'm sorry to say that if I even suspected he was a paedophile I would not let him anywhere near my house.
They are disgusting, deceitful evil scum and take no chances at all!

registered or not?
registered they must inform you and i think the police have a duty to diclose if someone may be at risk.
if you just suspect they may be check the com for sites visited by looking in history and cookies,
i dont think there is a definitive way to tell but if you suspect tell the police!!

Observe his reaction when in the vicinity of small children.
A normal person does not hold onto them for prolonged periods of time, no matter what everyone else says even if it is your mother.

Very scary question and not much detail. If you have the slightest inclination then you make an excuse and you get them to leave right now.... No room for 'I didn't know' on this one.
