I have looked at all the answers on other people's questions, but the problem is, I DO NOT like the "classical" music (ex bach). I need something slow, and soothing... My favorite found song so far is "When You Come Back Down" by NickelCreek. Any suggestions that are simular to this?

OK, so I know that you sleep better without music, but my husband and I are going to be apart while he finishes school, I will be in a new house alone, and need some music to cover the silence, it is "scary" when you are not use to being alone... thank you for the suggestions though.

I dunno who NickelCreek is but Mazzy Star would be a good one I think. Good for awake times too.

Often, I fall asleep listening to Copeland's "Sleep." I think it's a really wonderful soothing song. I have a "fall asleep" playlist on my iPod and it also includes Something Corporate's "As You Sleep." And probably the best for falling asleep -- EISLEY! You have to listen to their music. The singer has such an angelic voice and their songs are so tranquil, they just put you at peace. Once, I heard of a celebrity saying, "Every night, I fall asleep to Eisley." Once again, I don't know if you like that kind of music, but it always helps me. :)

try getting a sound machine. It's not exactly music but it has many of natures great relaxing sounds. waterfall, brook, ocean and rain are great noises to fall asleep too. also if it is a little hot in ur room turn on a fan for some white noise. hope this helps!
btw, i have i found this site with a sound machine under $25.

Try getting the Sarah Machlaclan CD with Sweet Surrender on it. I apologize, I can't recall the title. No matter what I am doing, the slow melodies always place me in a gentle slumber. Another one to consider is Norah Jones's first CD. It's very calming..
Good luck!

It has actually been proven that we sleep deeper and better without background noise, including music. If you need SOME kind of noise, stick with white noise like a fan or something. Also, they have great cds that have soft piano music and ocean noises if you insist on listening to something while sleeping.

Try some Celtic folk singers like Enya or Annie Lennox. They have an ethereal quality that is very soothing.

i HIGHLY suggest Kings of Convenience or Death Cab For Cutie. Both artists make extremely calm music that isn't boring. Death Cab's songs are a little more upbeat, so if that won't make you fall asleep, try songs like "Cayman Islands" and "Homesick" by Kings of Convenience.
