I've always secretly wanted to be goth, but I'm afraid I'm too old. I really like that subculture, though.

Who says the first Goths were young?

Goth is more than just a fashion. It is an attitude, a mindset and a whole way of life.

There doesn't have to be an age limit for being a Goth. As long as you can continue to adapt your dress style to reflect your age, there is no reason why you can't age gracefully along with your outfit.

Anyone who says different hasn't been a Goth long enough to see how wrong they are - or they simply aren't Goth enough to realise that they're just being Trendies.

You are never too old to be a Goth, if that's what you want to do. You can be a Goth and not go out wearing black all the time. Personally, I prefer the elegant, corsetted approach, and a love of Rock/Metal music is a preferable. I'm 23 and still going strong. Don't listen to these idiots who are all ' oh you can't do that, it means you're a druggy and a social reject'. There is room for us all in society!

I'm 25. I have several Goth friends in their 40's and a few in their 50's. I don't have any older Goth friends but then again I have few freinds older than this full stop. I know of Goths in their 60's and am sure there are older ones out there.

I guess one can't be too old or too young. I've sen kids in their early teens and some elderly folk too, sporting a goth like appearance. I personally do not understand it, nor do I find it attractive in any way whatsoever. Dark, Red, Black, Spooky- tattoos and piercings. I'm sure that there is a meaning and significance behind it- Go for it!

Depends what goth you're going for. Mall goths should stop in the teenage years.

The year before you get interested. Goth is a horribly manipulative sub-culture that can lead you into some very dangerous habits, attitudes and actions.

I really am surprised that you think so much of it given that you also think you may be too old for it.
