I'm on anti-depressants and whenever I forget to take my meds, I get like that. I get very lightheaded and dizzy and feel sick to my stomach. I'm not sure what causes it, but as soon as I get home I take my meds and within an hour or so, I feel fine. I recommend talking to your doctor.

Yeah, I've had this happen before. I stopped taking my lexapro abruptly since I don't have health insurance anymore. BAD IDEA! A few days after I quit taking them, I was always dizzy. I took them again and felt fine. So now I'm trying to get off of them this way: I cut my pills into fourths and am taking them that way. it's such a small dose, but it keeps me from being dizzy. And it should be easier to get off of. Try that. But call your doc first!

You should never just stop taking anti depressants cold turkey. Thats why you may be having dizzy spells, you really need to talk to your doctor & probably get back on them if you really need them. You can start taking them again, but you might have start out with smaller doses & work your way up.......But seriously talk to a doctor or call a medical hotline or call the local hospital & ask if they have someone you can talk to.

Did you eat? and drink alot of water? or maybe you were too hot? It's better to stay home rest. Hope you feel better! Stay rest and drink alot of water.

Heya Cathy..
Yes, antidepressants these days really shuffle the deck! When you come off of them your doctor should absolutely give you a program to come off of them gradually.
You hear these stories of kids coming off [or going on] antidepressants and suddenly having amazingly psychotic behavior. They're true! At least it sounds like you are in touch with your own feelings and body and aren't afraid to go back to the doc. That's the best thing. And congratulations on getting off of the meds!

Yes, you can be going through withdrawl symptoms from the drugs. Were you supposed to stop taking them abruptly? Most psych meds have to be decreased gradually till done. Check with your doc.

if you stopped taking the pills suddenly and weren't weened off of them it could be because of that, your body comes to rely on them, and needs to be slowly taken off of them to function normally. If the symptoms continue, have your iron levels check, you may be anemic, and also have your thyroid levels checked for hypothyroidism. . . get plenty of rest and take an iron supplement
