You are. Other things are diferent from you. That is all you really know. How you interpret this knowledge is your philosophy.
Mine is that I am the same as everything in so much as I am a part of the same universe as it and therefore feel a one-ness with it and apathy towards other people and things and therfore what I do effects the rest.

truth is when you tell what is not a lie. which means that you would not be in such troble then you would have if you lied. truth is the best word of the world next to God who is our God and knows the truth even if you lie. So always tell the truth if that was what you were looking for. And it is hard for some one to tell and listen to because it can hurt some ones feelings. That would last a long time to go away. But then you also feel better because did not lie and you were told the truth. So think about it and maybe when you or some ones tell a lie you will know that they are lying and when they tell the truth you will know and not feel so bad. It is all in my brain and i hope you pick my for the best answer. And to answer your real question almost every one can. So don't feel bad.

In a court of law, witnesses are obliged to "speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth" That is a true version of what they saw, for example. But, we all know that what we thought we saw is not necessarily 'the one truth' because appearances are deceptive. So, one person's truth is another persons lie or deception.
Maybe the nearest thing to absolute truth would be in the field of mathematics, just a guess on my part.
As to who is qualified to judge what is truth, well judges are trained to make such judgements but whether or not they always get it right is any ones guess.

Truth is personal conviction. Perception works from an internal basis, so I have a hard time believing that there are sincere universal truths. I'd like to think that things like compassion, generosity and honesty would be universally recognized truths, things to live ones life by in order to benefit a larger whole, but people are selfish and narrow minded on a instinctual level that belayed universal truths.

John 18:38 to the first question
John 7:18 and John 3:11 to the second
Ask yourself: In a court of law, when a witness testifies that he saw something..... we call it truth, unless another witness testifies against him.....

It is the opposite of a lie,or an untruth.Or it is a collection of random meanings that apsolutely everybody agree on.Therefore anyyone can make the judgement as long as absolutely everyone else agrees.

I think that 'truth' varies by the individual and how they were brought up. Some tell the truth, some stretch the truth, and a lot just don't know how to tell the truth, and some don't even know what the truth is...

Oh good old truth. I think it is easier to decide what is not true rather than what is true. And anyone is entitled to make that judgement if they are willing to be found ignorant.

Truth is transitory, it changes based on the most current evidence at hand. Back in the day, the truth was that the world was flat.....but with new evidence, the 'new truth' was that is was round.
