Let's go a hop, skip, and a jump farther--let's try going a whole day without using labels of any kind.

I'm with you on that. The labeling of others is bad, but the labeling of yourself using the labels of others is even worse. People need to stop identifying with the labels. We all have a choice in this. The powers that be make these things up, through mocking bird mass media, so that we can choose sides, square off against one another, and prevent anything from being accomplished. Meanwhile, the status quo remains the same, or worse gets richer and more powerful, and nobody notices because they are too busy name calling. Why can't people see the obvious divide and conquer strategy of the labeling?

Notice how it's always 2 opposing labels too, so that you can't build a coaltion or form alliances.

Aside from here on this forum, I spend most of my days without mentioning any of those terms. For weeks on end.

And I work in the legal profession, and talk about politics nearly every day. So, not that difficult if you're willing not to generalize and willing to not blame entire groups for the attitudes or actions of individuals.

{EDIT} I second Paladin's suggestion about avoiding labels entirely. In fact, my girlfriend picks fun at me because I refuse to resort to general labels, about pretty much anything.

Sure. The terms "liberal" and "conservative" are often misused anyway, and the other two only describe what it says on your voter's card.
