In pastures, in the grass, around cow patties, in the woods on aspen blow downs. Under cultivation on wood chip mulch, on heavily fertilized very well watered lawns. Be careful picking wild ones, there are several Little Brown Mushrooms (LBM's)that look very similar but are deadly poisons. You would be better to start with a kit until you know what you are looking at.
