My doctor told me she had four complete periods while she was pregnant and she had a healthy full term baby. Still, if you are experiencing this, you need to see a doctor for an assessment. Immediately.

trust me it's possible.

i'm 12 weeks preggers, and i've had my "period" around the same time each month. i did have implantation bleeding also.

i saw an episode on oprah a long time ago when a few women in the audience said that they had their periods while pregnant-- one of them said they had a monthly period all nine months. the doctor said it was impossible-- but it's not impossible, it's just not common.. but it does definitely happen.

if this is happening to you, be prepared to hear a doctor say it's impossible-- because their medical training tells them that a woman's period stops when she's pregnant due to the hormones in her system that tells her body to stop bleeding out. not all doctors are modern enough for the trend-- but listen to the stories that women have already put up here as an answer to your question-- real ppl experience it, and have had successful pregnancies, so, it's definitely possible, and it happens to a fair share of women.

another thing-- i'm not sure if it can be called a period, but more so i think it's bleeding. a period is when you've actually ovulated, and produced an egg that hasn't be fertilized. of course, i don't know this for sure (there hasn't been much research in pregnancy and periods), but the bleeding you experience is extra blood produced by your body that doesn't have the chance to line the uterine wall (since your baby is already occupying that space)... and because your body is programmed to bleed during that time, it normally just bleeds out.. i experienced this, with my blood being MUCH different from the bleeding of my periods before pregnancy... it was lighter red (bright), and it almost poured out of me! and it only took 3 days (for me)... when my periods ALWAYS lasted 7 days, sometimes even 8... it's normal, trust me.. for me.. and it makes perfect sense.

so, although the average woman doesn't experience periods during pregnancy, it's also common to have it, as you can see...

Yes, I've known a few people who had their period until they were about 3 1/2 months pregnant.

I have heard of it happening to a lot of people. But it usually very light spotting or a light flow. Nothing Heavy. If it is heavy and you're pregnant there very well could be something wrong. I knew a girl who had a light "period" for 6 months! Never even had a clue that she was pregnant! If you think you could be pregnant and are bleeding even just spotting you should go to your doctor A.S.A.P. just in case.

Answer: Some women do experience bleeding during pregnancy, but technically it is not a menstrual period. However, this bleeding can seem to coincide with a woman's normal cycle, so it can be confusing.

A very light or short "period" or spotting is one of several common early symptoms of pregnancy.

Bleeding during pregnancy can also indicate that you are miscarrying. Please consult a doctor or midwife if you believe you could be in danger of miscarriage (and be sure to eat well and get plenty of rest).

It is rare, but possible.

When you have your periord, it is when an organ in your body releases one of millions of eggs into your uterus. If that egg is not fertailized by a human male reproductive cell (a sperm), it will dissolve. Now, each time an egg dissolves, a span of time goes by. The uterus spends that time preparing for the arrival of the next egg by lining the sides with soft, spongy tissue that protects the egg. When the egg dissolves, it sheds all the tissue and the cycle starts again. If you have sex with a male, then the sperm comes into the uterus and fertalizes the egg and grows into a baby. Then the tissue is used, so it dosn't shed. Once you give birth, the baby is pushed out of the uterus and you get your periord again.

Yes take a test if you think you are pregnant. But it is very rare. My cousin had her period throughout her entire pregnancy and now her son is 8 years old.

It doesn't happen very often but ocassionally women for the first couple of months still get their period. If you are in the second trimester you should have your doctor look at it and make sure its not amnio fluid.
