1. No, there are no degrees of an honorable discharge. There are three discharges that can be given administratively - honorable, general under honorable conditions, and other-than-honorable. There are two that can be given at a court-martial - bad conduct and dishonorable.

No, not unless he can get it changed.
Less than Honorable means he was a problem child that no-one wanted under their command.He kept his nose clean enough to avoid a bad conduct discharge.

it comes with less respect and benefits are in jeaporday
less then honorable is pretty low, and a dishonorable is the worst, it can be appealed later on but good luck
