Does chicago have school of choice? I am not impressed at all with the test scores in the school neighborhood we are moving to and want to send my son to another school do they have this in chicago?

thank you my son hasnt started yet it is william k sullivan elementary on mackinaw in south shore I was appalled at there scores they were a 1 in ALL subjects on a scale of 1-10 that to me is scary.. also a elementary school is considered severely overcrowed if over 80% capaticity and it has 128% !!!! awful

part of the problem is that if u want to get your son in a good school program you have to start early (oct-feb ). I would start with calling the board of education and seeing if they have any recommendations for the current school yr. also check charter schools. i'm sure once u find possibilities in your area u can go in and plead your case with the principal.(been there done that easily)...bring your childs test scores to help back up your case about how you dont want his bright future to suffer and be stiffled. i'm sure you've already been on this website, but....

If your child has been in a school that is failing, you will receive and option letter for another school. Try for a charter school for free or try a parochial school for tuition. Both are doing very well. Investigate, then list your schools on Answers and see what kind of word of mouth responses you get.

That school is in the "bush", and you can go to public schools that are in the surrounding area of which you live. You can go to any parachial school you choose to, if you want to pay for it.

Test scores are indicitve of the children, not the school. If your children are tenacious, they will do well anywhere,
